A Warm Welcome To Our B&B Haute-Vienne, Limousin

Garden at our B&B, Haute Vienne, Limousin. Join Vivienne and Steve at Cherry Tree (B&B) Bed and Breakfast Limousin, where we not only offer you bed and breakfast accommodation in the heart of the Haute Vienne region of the Perigord Limousin National Park, but we also wish to welcome and entertain you in our home and hopefully remain friends as we have done with many of our guests during our first successful season in Limousin.

After selling everything up in Manchester, England we set off in February 2006 with our beloved boxer dog, Poppy, and a caravan on a "Grand Tour of France" on a long search for a new life. We agreed that when we found somewhere we really liked we would stay.

We never got any further than Limousin. We loved the Haute Vienne Limousin and the Perigord National Park so much we decided to relocate permanently to South West France.

So we took possession of our bed and breakfast Limousin in September 2006 and other than restoring all the wood floors upstairs, most of our hard work has been in the garden. After making the garden reasonable, we opened as a B&B in April 2007.

Our Garden Overlooking the Haute-Vienne

Restoring the Veg Plot Spring 2008 According to local rumour, up until the late 1990's our house was owned by a french man whose sole purpose in life was tending his garden every day from dawn until dusk. It was reputed to be one of the best gardens in Cussac, Haute Vienne, overlooking the stunning Perigord Limousin countryside. Allegedly, young newlyweds would come and have their wedding photographs taken where locals would take a stroll and play boules on the old petanque court in the shade of the huge pine trees.

Finally when we came along the house had been empty for nearly 2 years by which time the gardens were completely neglected and overgrown.

During our first year we have restored two small orchards and part of the vegetable plot and for Summer 2008 we have replaced many of the flowers and extended the vegetable garden to produce delicious home-grown vegetables.

Our Menagerie

Guests of our bed and breakfast are welcome to stroll at leisure around our gardens, often accompanied by our beloved Boxer, Poppy.

In Autumn 2007 we acquired our first chickens (kept in line by our comical cockerel, Adolf) to add eggs to our home produce and this January we were given 2 goats. Both goats, Fudge and Chutney turned out to be pregnant and at the end of March our 2 goats became 5.

Our guests young and old enjoy making friends with and feeding our animals and during their stroll, could quite likely spot an abundance of wildlife - various species of butterflies, hedgehogs, lizards, frogs, toads, a fox and even a family of deer.
